Logan Square Park
Chicago, IL

Steel, wood
Dimensions variable

The Logan Square project emphasizes community engagement. The final installation consists of perforated steel silhouettes with internal speakers. The silhouettes are of local community members that frequent the nearby Chicago Transit Authority train stop; the internal speakers emit stories and neighborhood sounds taken from interviews with those community members. The sculpture fabrication and audio recordings were conducted with the help of neighborhood project participants and an “artist’s apprentice.” The Logan Square silhouettes serve as an interactive backdrop for the new community garden.
